Fire hits structure on St. George Avenue, Saskatoon

First arriving fire crews found a fire well advanced into a fully involved state.

SASKATOON - The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4:04 a.m. Sunday morning and immediately three fire engines, a ladder truck, and the Battalion Chief were dispatched.

The Saskatoon Police Service were already on scene when fire crews arrived. The Fire Investigator was also dispatched.

First arriving fire crews found a fire well advanced into a fully involved state. Incoming fire crews were assigned tactical assignments.

This fire burned through the structure's roof and some interior collapse occurred as a result. Utility companies were requested to shut down the utilities.  

No civilians or firefighters were injured as a result of this fire.

At 6:40 a.m., the fire scene was turned over to the Fire Investigator to conduct a scene examination. An update will follow on damage estimate, cause of the fire, and its area of origin.
