Yorkton Council approved an Employee Code of Conduct Policy at its regular meeting Monday.
鈥淚n 2015 the Government of Saskatchewan introduced and passed legislation to amend The Cities Act. One of the amendments requires that Saskatchewan municipalities must put in place a Code of Conduct Policy for their employees. The City of Yorkton does currently possess a Code of Ethics Policy that is inclusive of City Councillors and Employee,鈥 Christopher Wentzell 鈥 Director of Human Resources with the City told Council.
鈥淒ue to changes in the legislation, one Policy will be put in place for employees and a second one for Council members. In developing the attached Employee Code of Conduct Policy, information from the current Code of Ethics Policy was carried forward and expanded upon with additional requisite information that meets the provincial government requirements.鈥
The Employee Code of Conduct will be a new Policy within the City of Yorkton Policy Manual and will supersede the current 鈥楥ode of Ethics Policy鈥, as it relates to employees.
The Employee Code of Conduct contains the requisite requirements as established by legislation of the Government of Saskatchewan.
