The Preeceville Curling club celebrated Curling day in Saskatchewan with a fun wing night followed by a draw-to-the-button competition on February 5.

The contestants were placed in two categories that included a 12-and-under group and a 13-and-over group. Each participant delivered four rocks with points awarded according to shot results.

Shanae Shewchuk scored points with every shot and won the 12-and-under category. Hudsyn Nelson was the second place winner. Seth Reynolds wound up closest to the pin. There were 27 entries in the younger group.

Kira Olson also scored points with every shot and tallied enough points to win the 13-and-over category. Olson also curled to within centimetres of the pin to take the honours of being closest to the pin. Shannon Nelson and Dreyton Paul split the second-place award. Thirty entries were recorded in the 13-and-over category.

"The event proved to be well accepted by both participants and spectators," said Joe Yacyshyn. "The cooks reported that they were busy in the kitchen with serving wings, fries and hamburgers. The club appreciates the excellent turnout. It is hoped to repeat this event again in the near future."
