Christmas time is a time of family and Christmas Teddy bears

All through the month of December, the residents and staff at the Preeceville and District Health Centre, LTC wing, have been enjoying the Christmas season through crafts and special events.

All through the month of December, the residents and staff at the Preeceville and District Health Centre, LTC wing, have been enjoying the Christmas season through crafts and special events.

The staff from the various hospital departments had fun creating themed Christmas Teddy bears. The bears were on display and then sold through a silent auction. Proceeds were allotted to the recreational activity fund for the residents. The 10 Teddy bears were created by the following departments:  LTC, doctors office/primary care, laundry, kitchen/dietary, front office, home care, acute care, housekeeping, lab and recreation.

The month was kicked off with group discussion about winter, which was followed by writing Christmas cards, making Christmas crafts and baking. The Mennonite youth choir performed a Christmas program on December 6 that was followed by a hot chocolate social. The Preeceville School grades two and three classes visited and sang Christmas carols with the residents.

At the family/resident Christmas social, family members were welcomed to share some special times with the residents.

An egg nog social kicked off the week prior to Christmas. On Christmas eve, a social was planned during which there would be gift openings and Christmas carolling. The month was to conclude with a New Year’s Eve party.

Other entertainers during the month included: Mike and Company and Willie Jakubowski and Company.

Other activities included: routine exercises, walking, the breakfast club, group exercises, bingo and bowling.

The monthly birthday party was sponsored by the LTC wing.
