Well, February has been a busy month for the Calder School Students and Staff. First off, all the students and staff and family members motored down to Asessippi Ski Hill for a fun day of tubing, skiing, and snowboarding. The school picked a nice day for the students to attend this event.
The Band Booster Fruit Drive is taking place during the month of February. Anyone interested in purchasing fruit, please contact one of the band members or phone the school.
The Hot Lunch program is going over very well at the Calder School. The students enjoy different types of food every week, which is nice to see.
The Calder school is still recycling ink cartridges. Please send any used ink cartridges to the school. Collect them from your neighbours and work place as well. Spread the word and collect as many as you can.
The Calder school is also participating in the SaskTel Pioneers Telephone book recycling program. The new Yorkton, Melville and District phone books will be available Feb. 28, 2013. When you receive your new phone book, please send the old one to the Calder School for recycling.
The Calder students are skating at the Calder Community Rink for part of their Physical Education Program. The students aren't allowed on the ice without a helmet. All students must have a hockey helmet before they can go on the ice.
The Calder Annual Poker Derby will be held on March 3, 2013 at the Calder community Rink. French toast and sausage breakfast starts at nine o'clock, registration at 9:30, raffles, scenic trail, gas at half way point, and food at half way point. The Calder Good Neighbour Centre held their Whist Drive on Feb. 9, 2013. The following people are the winners of the Whist drive: 1st, Donna Fustey, 2nd‚ Virginia Wandy, 3rd‚ Judy Pryslak, and low‚ Norman Wozney. Pot of Gold Winner was Elmer Eftoda. The Calder Good Neighbour Centre held their Birthday Social on Feb. 10, 2013. Ella Becker and Norman Wozney celebrated their birthday this month. And the winners of the Birthday Social Whist Drive were as follows: 1st, Gordon Kohut, 2nd‚ Mildred Danylko, 3rd‚ Jack Miller, and low, Lil Wozney. The pot of gold winners were Lil Wozney and Norman Wozney.
