CALDER - Busy weekend for whist players

Well, a lot of people were busy after the tornado or plow wind that went through Calder and the surrounding area on June 26, 2012. Many residents had broken branches and a lot of uprooted trees in their yard.

Well, a lot of people were busy after the tornado or plow wind that went through Calder and the surrounding area on June 26, 2012. Many residents had broken branches and a lot of uprooted trees in their yard. Thank God no one was hurt or houses destroyed.

The Calder Senior had a busy weekend on June 30, and July 1, 2012. On June 30, the Calder Good Neighbour Centre hosted their Whist Drive. Here are the winners of the whist drive: 1st Marlene Balabuk, 2nd Marie Rohatensky, 3rd Judy Pryslak, low went to Marge Mankish. Pot of Gold winners were Marie Rohatensky and Ann Mostoway.

On July 1, 2012, the Calder Good Neighbour Centre held their Birthday Social. The people celebrating their birthdays for the months of May and June were Don Kahut, Arthur Martinuk, Murray Andrews and Peter Swerhun.

The seniors also held a door raffle and the winners were as follows: Marie Rohatensky, Virginia Wandy, Beth Furney of Roblin, MB, Marlen Balabuk, Peter Swerhun, and Norman Wozny.

The winners of the July 1 whist drive are as follows: 1st Arnold Balabuk, 2nd Mildred Danylko, 3rd Walter Eckhart of Roblin, MB and low went to Joy Baker. The Pot of Gold winners were Margie Monkish and Mildred Danylko.

A few people from the Calder area took in the Dauphin CountryFest. Hope you all had a great time.

Daniel Damsma of Calder was also one of the graduates from the Calder area, who graduated from the Yorkton Regional High School this year.

The Calder Rec Board would like to thank all the people who helped out with the auction sale that was held at the Calder Community Rink.

The Calder Parkland Regional Library is open on Monday and Wednesdays from 12 to 4. So come over to your local library for some good books and the coffee is always on.

On July 4, 2012 the Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive. Here are the winners of that whist drive: 1st Fawn Rohatensky, 2nd Peter Wererchuk, 3rd Marlene Balabuk and low was Lil Wozny. Pot of Gold winners were Arnold Balabuk and Norman Wozny.

There was a Slow Pitch game on Fri., July 13, at the Calder Sports ground. The Calder team played against one of the Roblin Slow Pitch teams. Both teams played a wonderful game with Calder winning the game. The Calder team is planning on having some home games on Wednesday nights and Friday nights. So come on over to the Calder Sports Grounds and watch some ball. The Booth is open, so come and have a hamburger, hotdog, pop or coffee. If anyone would like to come and play a game against the Calder team, they can call Trevor or Nicole at 742-2112 for more information.
