Yorkton's Justin Genaille gets open and eventually scores on the Regina Rifles' goalkeeper during Prairie Gold Lacrosse League action Friday at Brendenbury Arena.

The Yorkton Junior B Bulldogs welcomed the Regina Rifles to the area in a neutral-site matchup in Prairie Gold Lacrosse League action played Friday in Bredenbury.

Despite a third-period comeback attempt in which they scored four goals, coach Joe Choptuik was not the slightest bit pleased.

"I've got nothing to say," he said while headed to the team's dressing room following a 13-6 defeat at the hands of the heavily-armed Rifles of Regina.

With the visitors holding a comfortable 10-2 lead, starting goaltender Travis Buckle was pulled in favour of Louden Choptuik, a move coach Choptuik said was an effort to wake up his team who were being badly outshot at that point in the game, wouldn't single out Buckle for his play.

Coach Choptuik said the team can't leave their goaltender hanging out to dry regardless of who is in goal.

"The kids have got to start bringing their 'A' game," said Choptuik.

"Every single game, we give up a four or five-goal lead" and it's costing them big time, he noted.

"I changed goalies to wake up the guys."

Yorkton was never close in the game but come the third period, they were able to mount enough of an attack to put the Rifles back on their heels.

Braeden Kittler went toe-to-toe with Regina's Tanner Francis in a heated third-period fight that saw Kittler throw a helmet nearly the length of the floor and both exchanged some heavy blows during the confrontation.

Offensively, Yorkton's Zach Soke led with two goals, Choptuik said, while Justin Genaille scored a nice breakaway goal as part of Yorkton's output in the final frame. Brandon Wizniak tallied once and Cody Jarvis and Jackson Tetrault all singled to round out the home side's scoring.
