In February, the Sturgis Station House Museum, which had opened its doors to the new addition of the Brookview School building last August, has had the building designated as Municipal Heritage Property, said Myrtle Boychuk, museum representative.
听听听听听听听听听听听 When the school was moved, a milestone in the life of Brookview School was marked as being an end to a new beginning, said Barb Wagar, museum representative. 鈥淭he end was the removal of the school from its original site on the southwest corner of NW 20-36-4W. It ended with a road trip and the settling of the school at its new home on the grounds of the Sturgis Station House Museum."
听听听听听听听听听听听 "The addition of the school will now allow us to have more space for exhibits, create a tourist opportunity and a public venue," said Boychuk. Individuals have donated articles related to the Brookview School and the museum board is hopefully that more will come forward and add to the school.
"It is an exciting time for the museum,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e are hoping that we can open the school to the public in 2020, which will be the centennial of the school.
