Basketball free-throw winners recognized by the Knights of Columbus

The top female and male shooters in the Knights of Columbus basketball free throw competition in Canora were recognized on March 2 at the Canora Composite School and on March 4 at the Canora Junior Elementary School.

            The top female and male shooters in the Knights of Columbus basketball free throw competition in Canora were recognized on March 2 at the Canora Composite School and on March 4 at the Canora Junior Elementary School.

            Winning top honours at the CCS were: Almaz Senechal, Ashley Stusek, Drea Beblow, Melissa Makowsky, Alden Baron, Joey Palagian, Hannah Keinick-Wallis, Lane Zuravloff, Decan Cybak and Chase Yagelnesky.

            The top female shooter was Ashley Stusek, who scored eight out of 15 baskets. The top male shooters were Lane Zuravloff and Decan Cybak, who each also shot eight out of 15 baskets.

            In total, there were 31 boys and 34 girls registered to compete in the 10-14 years age group.

            Medallions were presented to the winners by Ken Rolheiser, Rod Degenstein and Robin Kapitoler. Michael Spelay, the event organizer, offered thanks to Jennifer Sleeva, Kapitoler, Roman Gulka, Zenovey Gulka, Ken Rolheiser and Rod Degenstein for assisting with the competition.

            The nine-year-old winners at the competition at the CJES were Bailee Zuravloff for the girls and Lucas Latham for the boys.

            Michael Spelay, the event organizer, presented the medallions to the winners. He thanked Principal Rod Steciuk for judging and scoring the competition.
