Atchison acclaimed as PC Party candidate for Kelvington-Wadena

On February 17, Tim Atchison was acclaimed as the Progressive Conservative candidate in the Kelvington-Wadena constituency for the April 4 provincial election.

On February 17, Tim Atchison was acclaimed as the Progressive Conservative candidate in the Kelvington-Wadena constituency for the April 4 provincial election.

            Merv Malish, the PC candidate for Canora-Pelly, and Rick Swenson, the PC Party leader, joined local supporters at the nomination meeting held at the Lintlaw Seniors’ Centre.

            Atchison thanked the participants attending the nomination meeting for coming out to support him and the Progressive Conservative Party.

            He addressed some of the issues that he will be championing in his run for the Legislature. These included local issues like flooding in the Quill Lakes area and revitalizing rural Saskatchewan. Atchison talked about the needs of senior citizens and addressed provincial issues like the privatization of liquor stores and the need to create a tourism strategy.

            In closing, Atchison said: “I will fight for what we need locally and in our great province of Saskatchewan.â€

            When addressing the crowd, Swenson thanked Atchison for making the commitment to run for the Legislature. Swenson said the PC Party has made some progress in the effort to make the government accountable, but “we still have some work to do.â€

            Swenson also discussed health care and the need for the regions and the ministry to be more accountable to the electorate.

            Towards the end of the meeting, Swenson and Atchison took questions from the audience, and then took time to shake hands and meet people individually.
