The Assiniboine Beef and Multi 4-H Club hosted its first ever achievement day on June 12, when the achievements of club members and their animal project were on display.
The event was hosted at the farm of Nathan and Megan Maier of Preeceville. Club members showcased goats and calf projects with Megan Hunt and Brittany Hunt judging the projects.
In goat category, members who participated included: Levi Maier, Hailey Hueser, Kendra Hueser, Niamh Honig, Elizabeth Ivanochko, Skylee Petras, Maggie Ivanochko, Trinity Petras, Olivia Ivanochko, Liam Townsend, Sawyer Townsend and Dawson Volpatti.
Niamh Honig received the trophies for grand champion goat and top cloverbud showman. In the beef category, members who participated were: Isaiah Maier, Kate Covlin, Emma Covlin, Tess Covlin, Sam Volpatti and Hudson Maier.
Isaiah Maier won the awards for grand champion, junior grooming, junior showmanship and junior market steer. Kate Covlin won second place in the junior grooming, third in the junior showmanship and second in the junior market steer categories.
Emma Covlin placed third in the junior grooming, second in the junior showmanship, and third in the junior market steer class. Sam Volpatti won the award for grand champion heifer and cloverbud grooming and third in the clover bud showmanship.
Hudson Maier placed second in the cloverbud grooming, second in the cloverbud grooming and showmanship, and first in the cloverbud market steer and reserve market steer categories. Tess Covlin won first in cloverbud showmanship, third in the cloverbud grooming, and second in the cloverbud market steer.
"For our first achievement day all the goat kids did very well and they had great goat stock," said Billie-Joe Townsend, leader. "We were pleased to have the achievement day at the Maier farm where the kids played and even zip-lined.
鈥淲e had great weather and a wonderful turnout,鈥 Townsend said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e very proud of our little club鈥檚 improvement this far. We would like to thank all trophy sponsors, business and community members for all their support."
