ELSTOW — Betty Stanford was at home in Elstow scratching her Super Scratch Pack Zing tickets when she discovered that she won the $250,000 prize on her Black Pearls ticket.

At first glance, Stanford thought she had won $25 but she wasn’t sure, so she asked her neighbour who thought her ticket said $25,000. But after a closer look, she realized that she had won a lot more – she was $250,000 richer.

“I just couldn't believe it! I kept saying, 'No, this isn't possible!'” she recalled.

Stanford told her daughter the news, but they decided to wait before telling the rest of the family.

Two weeks later, the family attended a surprise birthday party for Stanford when she reversed the surprise and told them about her win.

Standford is planning to put her windfall toward home renovations.

The winner purchased her Super Scratch Pack from Pinnacle Gas & Food at 209A – 2750 Faithful Ave. in Saskatoon on May 7. The same store sold a winning $55 million Lotto Max ticket in October of last year.
