YORKTON - Amit Arora, manager of the Yorkton McDonald’s Restaurant, has won a 2023 Outstanding Manager of the Year award.

The award recognizes the top performing managers across the country.

Every day, Arora works diligently beside crew members to serve quality food, with excellent service and warm smiles to restaurant guests, noted a release on the award.

Arora started his long career with McDonald’s back in 1998 as a crew member in a restaurant in Delhi, India. From there, Arora worked his way up the ranks and became a restaurant manager in 2003. He continued working with McDonald’s – including a stint in America Samoa – until 2005.

After moving to Canada, Arora eventually found his way back to McDonald’s in 2016, where he took over the Whistler, B.C., location as a restaurant manager.

Finally, he settled in Yorkton in 2017.

Now, he is being recognized for his inspiring leadership skills and dedication with an Outstanding Manager of the Year award, his second since 2021.

Since earning this award for the second time, Arora has received a promotion: he is now the Senior General Manager of the Yorkton and Melville McDonald’s restaurants.

“I am so proud to be receiving this award that recognizes my goal to make McDonald’s an incredible place to work and eat,” said Arora in the release. “When I first started with McDonald’s in India and heard about these awards, it was a goal of mine to earn it one day. I’m grateful for my Crew who is focused on always giving our guests the best dining experience. And I’m grateful to our leadership for nominating me for this award.”

Every year, McDonald's franchisees and regional management nominate restaurant managers across the country for the Outstanding Manager of the Year award to recognize their hard work, dedication, and commitment to McDonald's Canada and its customers.

"Amit is an asset to our organization and the community he lives in,” said Raj Bains, Yorkton McDonald’s Franchisee in the release. “Amit takes pride in developing young leaders and takes care of his team. He also focuses on running great restaurants by focusing on quality, cleanliness, and friendly service. We are incredibly proud of Amit and his accomplishments.”

Recognition's like the Outstanding Manager of the Year Award reflect McDonald’s commitment to creating memorable employment opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. With a focus on employee growth, the company strives to offer its employees with the skills and experience they need to progress in their careers, with around 90 per cent of restaurant managers beginning their careers as crew.

McDonald's restaurants offer crew members the opportunity to learn how to prioritize tasks and manage money and operations – all of which can help team members feel accomplished while acquiring skills that can be used in other jobs.
