Entrepreneurship 30 students from Yorkton Regional High School have been recognized provincialy.
In semester one the class students created their own companies under the guidance of instructor Kristine Tether and the Junior Achievement program. They came up with an idea, created and sold products, and worked together as a team in order for each shareholder to earn a profit over $100.
Now some of the students involved are Provincial JA Award winners.
Chelte Young is the Production Excellence award winner for her company Natural Essence.
鈥淐helte took initiative and great pride in her work to create air fresheners diffused with essential oils,鈥 said Tether.
Andy McLennanis the Marketing Excellence award winner for his company Natural Essence.
鈥淎ndy is recognized for his outstanding efforts in the fields of promotion and marketing through his creative abilities in sales, promotion and marketing,鈥 said Tether.
In addition, McLennan is recipient of the Leadership Excellence Award due to his outstanding leadership skills. With this award, he will represent Saskatchewan and Canada, travel to Calgary, all expenses paid, to the JA Youth Success Summit, an international conference attended by Achievers from around the world. (July 21-26, 2019).
Kaitlyn Ivanochko is the President of the Year award winner for her company Re-Tail. She exhibited the qualities and abilities that make an exceptional leader.
鈥淎s President of the company, she led with competence and confidence, provided mentorship to team members, and was an outstanding ambassador for the company,鈥 said Tether. 聽
With this award, she also will represent Saskatchewan and Canada, at the JA Youth Success Summit.
Lastly, Ivanochko鈥檚 company Re-Tail, wonthe Product Design award 鈥渄ue to her imagination, creativity, marketability, and material cost,鈥 said Tether.
The company created up-cycled dog toys and beds, and sold them throughout the Yorkton area.
Each student will also receive a scholarship for their efforts.
鈥淲e are very proud of them and look forward to hearing about the JA summit experience. Andy will be representing the YRHS as Kaitlyn is sadly travelling and elsewhere at that time,鈥 said Tether.
