On Friday, March 5, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Yorkton RCMP responded to complaints of an erratic driver leaving Yorkton travelling west on Highway 52.

The vehicle was reported to have been cutting off other vehicles and driving at incoming traffic before hitting the ditch and stopping its course. The two occupants of the vehicle were seen fleeing the scene of the collision.

As police officers arrived at the scene of the collision and began searching for the occupants of the vehicle, Yorkton RCMP received another call for assistance.
The homeowner of a nearby residence, arriving at their house, noticed two unknown individuals inside their house peeking out the window. The homeowner stayed outside of their residence and called the police.
The two individuals fled while the police was on its way.

Yorkton RCMP officers pursued the two suspects by following their tracks in the snow with the help of Yorkton RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS). Tracks led to a second nearby residence. Police officers saw two individuals inside the second residence. Yorkton RCMP officers confirmed with the homeowners of the second residence they were not home and received permission to enter.
Yorkton RCMP officers arrested an adult male and an adult female inside the second residence without incident with the assistance of Yorkton RCMP PDS.

The two were transported to hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries believed to be caused by the collision.

The three incidents are still under investigation but are treated by police as being related.
Police estimates there is no risk to public safety at this time.
