The 35th edition of the Yorkton Farm Toy Show was one of the final public events to take place in the city in February 2020, happening the 8th and 9th, just before events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The show isn't as lucky this year. The event should have been happening this weekend (13 and 14), but the ongoing pandemic led to its cancellation.
But, no show does not mean farm toy collectors aren't still carrying on their hobby and some of the events associated with the annual show.
There is an ongoing toy auction, one that has simply gone online, explained Kim Mehrer, with bids being taken at
The auction has a couple of key lots on offer, a pedal tractor and a weekend getaway package, the proceeds of both going to help Gabe a young lad from Theodore, explained Mehrer.
"Gabe is a young boy who loves swimming, Star Wars and spending time with his pets, friends and family! He is battling Aneurysms/tumors on his heart and tubers and tumors on his brain caused by TSC, Tuberous Sclerosis Complex," details the group's Facebook page.
The pedal tractor was donated by Mazer Group, Yorkton, and the 'getaway' (a $200 gift certificate complete with pool passes to Temple Gardens Mineral Spa in Moose Jaw), is donated by Ukrainetz Auctions / Karla's Auctions and W2 Toy Farms & Collectables.
The online toy auction runs until Feb. 12.
Also in support of Gabe, who must travel to Calgary for his medical needs, Kim and Jeremy Mehrer are offering a 'staycation' which is up for bids of the Yorkton Farm Toy Show Facebook page. The package includes a one night stay at any Home Inn Suites in Saskatchewan, a gift card to Boston Pizza and a Co-op gas gift card.
Bidding on the 'staycation' will end Feb. 14, at 5 p.m.
