“Hopefully we can smash our target as we look forward to Christmas, and December 24th being our last day at the kettle.â€

Ìý

This is a challenging year, said Tim. On one hand, people who are giving are very generous, because they know that this year they are more people who need help. On the other, the need has doubled from last year, and they have put together over 700 Christmas hampers for people in the city, and double the number of toys as usual as well.

Ìý

“The need is great, so we are just pushing along.â€

Ìý

The money is used to support the food bank year round, not just at Christmas.

Ìý

Tim said they are grateful for all the support so far through the challenges families are facing this year. He thanks everyone who has volunteered and everyone who has donated.

Ìý

But there’s still chances to donate. If someone is unable to make it to the kettle or uncomfortable going out, they can mail a cheque to Box 456 in Yorkton, Sk.Ìý

The Salvation Army is also still looking for Kettle volunteers in the next week. If you can take a shift, call Captain Mary Tim at 306-316-0265.
