Every year, Telemiracle showcases Saskatchewan talent on stage. The talent list for the 45th Telemiracle has been released, and Yorkton student Breanna Rodgers is one of the people set to take the stage for the event.
Rodgers said she was shocked to find out that she was one of the people set to perform at the event.
鈥淚 think I was screaming at the top of my lungs telling my mom and dad and jumping up and down, I was so excited!鈥
Rodgers began performing at Yorkdale Central School鈥檚 talent show when she was in Grade 4. Rodgers said that it has been her family support that has made her want to continue singing.
鈥淎ll of my family is there supporting me, and聽 they pushed me to become a singer. It鈥檚 just to share my talent.鈥
That family was thrilled to hear that she will be singing at Telemiracle, but she wasn鈥檛 the one to tell them because she had to go to work right after finding out.
鈥淚 got phone calls and texts, and they were all really excited and proud of me.鈥
The process of getting to Telemiracle began well before the audition, with Rodgers working with Kelsey Kuz, former choir director at YRHS, working on songs. They picked the song 鈥淢ore Hearts than Mine鈥 by Ingrid Andress.
鈥淚t just talks about bringing people home to meet your family, and I guess I鈥檒l be doing that eventually.鈥
Once the song was picked, she submitted a video audition to Telemiracle, and was selected as one of next year鈥檚 performers.
She said it鈥檚 nerve racking as she prepares to take the stage.
鈥淚鈥檓 still wicked excited, I just have to prepare for the worst and the best!鈥
But for Rodgers, it鈥檚 not just about being able to sing to a big audience, but instead about why she鈥檚 singing.
鈥淭o me, it means that I get to help give back to other people who need it, and make a difference in somebody else鈥檚 life.鈥
She said that while getting on stage in front of the province makes her nervous, she鈥檚 happy to share her talent and show how she can help others across Saskatchewan.
