The Salvation Army Food Bank has a new desk area plexiglass guard thanks to Mid-Can Windows.
鈥淚 was looking at how we can continue to work safely at the Food Bank,鈥 explained Lieutenant Samuel Tim with the Salvation Army.
The idea was to provide some sort of shielding for staff, akin to what has been installed in most grocery stores.
鈥淚 was looking into where I can get that in the city,鈥 said Tim, an effort that took him to Mid-Can Windows who had made similar items for other local businesses.
Mid-Can visited the Food Bank, made sure the desk was capable of supporting the shielding, took some measurements, and left. Within hours they were back with the guard to install.
Tim said when he asked the cost, he was told it was being provided as a donation.
鈥淏ecause of the existing predicament that we find ourselves, we need to do all we can to protect the front line workers,鈥 said David Padar with Mid-Can Windows. 鈥淎 preventative barrier is a necessity. We wanted to help do what we could to make sure that everyone is protected given the circumstances.
鈥淭he food bank serves a wide range of client, so the barrier is better for everybody.鈥
Tim said he was appreciative of the donation.
鈥淭hey did a very good job. I was really impressed. It was just what we needed,鈥 he said.
Food bank worker Maria Kolebaba is also appreciative of the guard.
鈥淭he preventative barrier gives me protection,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 feel at ease and safer which in turn helps me to continue to provide better service to clients without worrying about the virus.
鈥淚 am sure that the clients feel the same way too.鈥
