Saskatoon residents will once again get the chance to experience and taste Filipino culture and food in next month's food and music festival.

SASKATOON — Organizers of the Saskatchewan Filipino Musik and Food Street Festival 2022 are promising a bigger and more exciting event this year that will feature more food vendors and performers.

The three-day festivities, which will showcase the tastes and music of the Philippines, will be held at the Kiwanis Memorial Park from Aug. 5 to 7, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Vendors will be selling Filipino food favourites like lumpia (spring rolls), pancit (stir-fried noodles), lechon baboy (roasted pig), lechon manok (roasted chicken) while entertainment will be provided by various Filipino bands, solo artists and dancers from all over Saskatchewan.

Masterpieces of Saskatchewan’s Filipino artists will be on display while models will show different Filipino costumes and dresses with the hope the next generation of Filipinos born in Canada will appreciate the culture of their parents and grandparents.

There will also be a carnival-like atmosphere as kids can enjoy clowns, magicians, mascots, a face-painting booth and Warren the Balloon Guy. A booth will be set up for families to enjoy different activities.

The Little Miss Filipino Canadian Saskatchewan pageant will also be held during the event, plus games that will give away thousands of prizes like the Filipino fiesta staple Live Karaoke Challenge. Filipino-made gift items and other gift items will be sold.
