COVID-19 UPDATE - One death,15 new cases, eight in hospital, nine recoveries

There are 15 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 16, bringing the total to 1,580 total cases.

There are 15 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 16, bringing the total to 1,580 total cases.听 One person whose residence information was pending, lives outside of Saskatchewan and the case has been removed from the Saskatchewan total.
The 15 new cases are located in the North West (1), Central West (1), Central East (3), 麻豆视频 West (5) and 麻豆视频 Central (5) zones.
One more person with COVID-19 has died.听 This person was in the North Central zone and was in the 80 to 89 age range.
Of the 1,580 reported cases, 193 are considered active.听 A total of 1,365 people have recovered.
Eight people are in hospital.听 Four people are receiving inpatient care; two in the 麻豆视频 West, one in Saskatoon and one in Regina.听 Four people are in intensive care, all in Saskatoon.
Investigations completed thus far have found 12 of the 15 new cases and 127 of 193 active cases are in communal living settings.
Of the 1,580 cases in the province:
鈥⑻ 222 cases are travellers;
鈥⑻ 809 are community contacts (including mass gatherings);
鈥⑻ 465 have no known exposures; and
鈥⑻ 84 are under investigation by local public health.
Overall in Saskatchewan:
鈥⑻ 64 cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.
鈥⑻ There are:
o听听听听听听 404 cases from the south area (206 south west, 187 south central, 11 south east)
o听听听听听听 352 cases from the far north area (346 far north west, 0 far north central, 6 far north east)
o听听听听听听 252 cases from the north area (119 north west, 68 north central, 65 north east)
o听听听听听听 247 cases from the Saskatoon area
o听听听听听听 194 cases from the central area (161 central west, 33 central east)
o听听听听听听 131 cases from the Regina area
o听听听听听听 259 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, while the remainder are adults.
鈥⑻ 504 cases are in the 20-39 age range; 491 are in the 40-59 age range; 271 are in the 60-79 age range; and 55 are in the 80-plus range.
鈥⑻ 51 per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.
鈥⑻ 22 deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to date.
To date, 122,245 COVID鈥19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan.听 As of August 14, 2020, when other provincial and national numbers were available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan鈥檚 per capita rate was 88,011 people tested per million population.听 The national rate was 126,130 people tested per million population.
Yesterday, 1,759 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan.
COVID-19 Testing
The Saskatchewan Health Authority is working toward increasing capacity to 4,000 tests in early September.听 COVID-19 testing is now available to anyone who requests it, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not.听 A referral for testing can be made by contacting HealthLine 811.听 Contact your physician鈥檚 office if you are experiencing worsening symptoms.听 If you require urgent care, call 911.
