It was a great weekend of fishing for Kelly Butz and his wife .

The couple, who reside at Sandy Beach on Good Spirit Lake for most of the summer, headed north to Jan Lake.

Jan Lakeis on the (Sask. Highway # 106), about 500 kilometres northwest of Yorkton.

Spending July 19-22 at the lake the couple enjoyed what they termed “beautiful weather, and fishing was still decent.â€

Some might suggest the fishing was more than descent with the largest northern pike taken weighing 13 pounds and the biggest walleye at four pounds.

The fish were taken mostly trolling with a spoon or crank bait, or pulling into a bay and casting to see the small pike chase their hooks back and bite it through the clear still water.
