KAMSACK — The National Doukhobor Heritage Village in Veregin has announced a new leadership team at the museum effective the 2025 season.
Caitlin (Cat) Woloschuk has been hired as manager, succeeding Philip Perepelkin, who is retiring after decades of service. Recently completing her Masters of Arts degree in History, Woloschuk has extensive experience in both the heritage and non-profit sectors. Most recently she has worked as a research assistant at Heritage Saskatchewan, where she researched, conducted interviews and transcribed data for internal reports.
Woloschuk has worked at the Diefenbaker Canada Centre in Saskatoon, where she assisted in building partnerships with artists, community organizations and other museums to enhance exhibits and promote community engagement. Woloschuk has also served on the board of the Museum Association of Saskatchewan (MAS). She believes that community outreach and promotion is essential in not only maintaining but enhancing the museum for years to come.
Originally from Yorkton, Woloschuk has Doukhobor roots in the Canora area, where her grandfather, John Zbeetnoff, was a teacher and a photographer. She is currently a member of the Saskatoon Doukhobor Society.
Joining Woloschuk as permanent staff for the 2025 season is Mason Hausermann. He has successfully completed his second year at the museum as summer staff. Hausermann has completed a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in History and is in the process of completing a degree with a major in history.
A Kamsack resident, Hausermann's personal Doukhobor/Metis heritage dictates a strong understanding of both Indigenous and settler cultures. He has interned with the Royal United Services Institute, concerning experiences of Canadian veterans, and has conducted research with the Dr. John Archer Libraries’ Archives.
The Village board says it is proud and delighted to welcome the energy this new team will bring to the Museum. At the same time, they are very grateful for the lengthy and diligent service of past manager, Philip Perepelkin.
