KAMSACK — The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency recently extended its warm congratulations to Kamsack Fire Chief Ken Thompson, honouring him for three decades of unwavering dedication and exemplary service in the field of public safety. This commendation, accompanied by a heartfelt message from Marlo Pritchard, MOM, MA President and Fire Commissioner, highlights Thompson's remarkable contributions to the province.
Fire Chief Thompson's dedication to public safety has earned him a special honour: the First Bar to the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal. This prestigious award signifies his outstanding service and unwavering commitment to the cause of public safety in Canada.
The medal was bestowed on him by surprise on the 6th of September during a regular fire hall meeting. Mayor Nancy Brunt and the council arrived at the meeting, alongside Community Safety Officer Sherise Fountain, and distracted Fire Chief Thompson before the medal arrived by discussing and inspecting trivial and vague things in the James Rudd Memorial Fire Hall.
CSO Fountain said, “We were trying to keep it a secret as long as possible, he was probably looking around wondering why the town council was here! We had a good excuse and said we were there to take their pictures.”
After CSO Fountain finished, Mayor Nancy Brunt said, “Then I was having him look at the cement, pretending to say you gotta see the cement.”
In a letter addressed to Fire Chief Thompson, Marlo Pritchard expressed gratitude on behalf of the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency for his steadfast commitment to the community's well-being. Thompson's remarkable 30-year career in public safety has left an indelible mark on the province of Saskatchewan.
“Congratulations on receiving recognition for your 30 years of exemplary service,” Pritchard stated. “As you reach this milestone, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for your dedicated and ongoing support and service that you provide to your community.”
