KAMSACK — Kamsack Comprehensive Institute (KCI) and Victoria School gathered to commemorate and honour the contributions of Indigenous veterans and veterans of the First World War, the Second World War, and the Korean War. The service, held at Victoria School on Nov. 9, brought together students, teachers, and community members to reflect on the sacrifices made by these veterans in various conflicts.
Tributes were paid to Indigenous veterans from all three wars. A list of names was read, recognizing the brave individuals who served their country during these conflicts. The speakers expressed gratitude for the contributions of these veterans and emphasized their recognition in Saskatchewan's history.
The event continued with the reading of names of first World War, second World War and Korean War veterans, underlining the diversity of those who served. The audience observed a moment of silence and heard the traditional playing of The Last Post, honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Toward the end of the event, attendees paid their respects to veterans from various regions, culminating in the singing of God Save the King. The exit procession honoured veterans from the past, acknowledged recent losses, and recognized those currently serving in missions of peace around the world.
The organizing committee expressed gratitude to volunteers, guests, the KCI band, teachers, and students for their participation in the event.
