KAMSACK - The Kamsack RCMP responded to 65 calls from February 26 to March 5. This included five mischief calls, three instances of uttering threats, two failures to comply with an undertaking, an animal call, a handful of 911 Act related calls, five breaches of the peace, four disturbing the peace calls, eight traffic violations ranging from driving a vehicle without insurance, driving while disqualified and driving without due care to name a few.
Oh, Deer
On February 27, Kamsack RCMP was dispatched to a call of a deer in the middle of the road just at the start of Highway 8. When members attended, they noticed that the deer was over to the side of the road, already making friends with the crows. It is very sad when an animal passes but it’s always good to remember the circle of life (not referring to the Lion King - copyright lawyers please don’t come for me). The deer was now food for other animals which would include the crows, a coyote, and eventually, the worms would turn it into fertilizer for the earth. Nothing is ever wasted in the animal world.
Your Donuts DO NOT Make Me Go Nuts
On February 26, Kamsack RCMP members received a call of a few cars doing stunts in the Broda Sportsplex parking lot. When members arrived, most of the vehicles were gone. Those still at the scene were given a warning. Do not stunt drive, especially at a public place where one wrong move can cause someone to get hurt or cause damage to your vehicle and/or public property. The only donuts the RCMP wants are the ones at Tim Hortons (not a sponsor, sadly).
Sleeping Beauty
On February 26, Kamsack RCMP received a call that someone was sleeping inside of their house. The caller had no idea how they got in. Nothing was stolen nor was anything broken - thankfully. The subject left on foot without causing issues to the complainant. Please make sure to double-check your doors and windows to make sure that they are locked before you leave your house. Things like this do not happen often, but it’s always good to double-check, especially if you will not be home for a while.
911 Oops
Kamsack RCMP received a 911 hang-up call. Members arrived on the scene to make sure everything was okay. Members were met by teenagers playing volleyball. They spoke to the coach who laughed and stated that it must have been the younger kids going into the office again playing with the phone. Kamsack RCMP always responds to 911 hang-ups. This is to ensure the safety of whoever is on the other line. Nevertheless, the teens and the coach appreciated Kamsack RCMP members stopping by to check-in.
Mental Health Act
On March 3, Kamsack RCMP received a call that an individual was worried about their niece, stating that they were currently pregnant and suicidal. Members attended and spoke with the girl. She stated that she has been feeling suicidal lately. Kamsack RCMP members got the female to agree to get taken to the hospital to get an assessment done by a licensed practitioner. This was a win for Kamsack RCMP. As someone who has a background in psychology, it is okay to not be okay. We all go through difficult times as humans. The important thing to remember is that there is nothing wrong with asking for help or wanting to talk to someone about what’s going on. Holding those feelings and emotions in will only make the glass full, once it's overflowing it’s difficult to get it empty again. Some resources available would be to call 811 to speak with Sask Health or contact Kids Help Phone (1-800-668-6868) they help people aged 5 - 25 but also have programs on their website for all age groups.
