Summer fun program launches in Sturgis, Preeceville and Endeavour

The Family Resource Centre, which serves the communities of Sturgis, Preeceville and Endeavour, is once again offering a Summer Fun Program for all children aged five to 12 years.

The Family Resource Centre, which serves the communities of Sturgis, Preeceville and Endeavour, is once again offering a Summer Fun Program for all children aged five to 12 years.

This year the crafts, games, activities and snacks will be based on a different animal each week, said Karolyn Kosheluk, co-ordinator of the program. The program is offered free of charge and all are welcome. Hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants will meet at the Sturgis Arena on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August.

In Preeceville, children will be meeting at the Preeceville Legion Hall and the program will run every Monday and Wednesday in the months of July and August.

"The summer fun program offers a fun activity for children," said Kosheluk. Kaylee Walker is the assistant.

鈥淥ur funding for this program is sponsored through the initiatives fund grant but the Family Resource Centre continues to need financial support to be able to continue providing services such as the Summer Fun Program, to families in the area.

"Everyone is welcome to this free program,鈥 she said. 鈥淐hildren are supervised and will work on literacy skills in their daily journals and also have fun with crafts, stories and games. A healthy snack will be provided. New this year is an emotional literacy component to help children better understand and recognize their feelings and emotions.
