Sturgis skaters showcased at 65th annual carnival

( see photo gallery below ) The 65th annual Sturgis ice carnival featured members of the Sturgis Figure Skating Club who showed off their achievements throughout the year.

            The 65th annual Sturgis ice carnival featured members of the Sturgis Figure Skating Club who showed off their achievements throughout the year.

            The carnival was held at the Sturgis Skating Arena on March 4 with the theme, Canadian Country Road Show.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Hockey games were featured throughout the weekend with IP, novice, atom, peewee and the Sturgis Trash hockey teams in action.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Heather Jaeb was head coach and had the responsibility of coaching all stages of skaters throughout the year. Janice Beatty was the emcee for the evening.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Amber Pristie, volunteer representative of the Sturgis arena, welcomed everyone and acknowledged all volunteers who helped make the carnival a success.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý O Canada and a figure skating prayer kicked off the evening performances.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý First on the ice were senior star skaters who skated toThe Last Saskatchewan Pirate. Skaters were Kylie Babiuk, Rhianna Olson, Peyton Secundiak, Shanae Olson, Mollie Jaeb, Bailey Peterson, Jainylle Gagnon, Cheyenne Peterson, Natalie Gregory and Savannah Olson.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Next to take to the ice were the stage three girls, Riley Wiwcharuk, Savannah Neilson and Rylee Coleman, who performed to Canadian Girls.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Stage four skaters, Allie Babiuk, Makayla Johnson, Nevaeh Rudachyk, Brea Babiarz and Tannis Fullawka, performed to Better Things to do.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Stage one girl skaters, Gemma Rudachyk, Maycee Johnson and Lindy Romanchuk, performed to Safe in the Arms of Love.
