Student Gallery a Mix of Everything

Yearly showcase highlights Outlook student artwork

Every year when the month of June rolls around, it signifies a number of things; the start of summer, warmer weather, and the end of another school year.

It also brings another display of impressive artwork to the walls of the Outlook Art Gallery, with pieces done by students from Outlook High School.

The variety of art projects shown speaks to the skill levels of the students, with styles such as acrylic and resin being featured, as well as other eye-catching works done utilizing clay, wood and stone.

Other works that stand out include pencil crayon sketches featuring pop culture figures such as the Justice League, and even a mesmerizing sketch featuring The Joker.

In an introductory letter also shown on the wall, OHS arts education teacher Eli Dingle says encouraging students in their artwork has a number of other benefits and helps shape them in other areas of their learning.

鈥淎 firm believer in the value of arts education, I have always strived to broaden students in various ways to help them learn better in their other subjects,鈥 he said.聽 鈥淏elieve it or not, art isn鈥檛 just drawing.聽 Art leads to many benefits to a child鈥檚 learning.聽 It can help develop motor skills, decision-making, visual learning, inventiveness, and cultural awareness.聽 All of these elements can help a child develop and in turn, correlate a connection between art and improved academic performance.鈥

The OHS student artwork will be featured at the Outlook Art Gallery until June 27.
