The Village of Strongfield rang in both Canada’s 150th birthday and the community’s own 105th anniversary with a daylong schedule of events on Saturday, July 15, including a vintage car/tractor parade, a BBQ lunch, supper, and games for all ages, and it was all capped with a spectacular fireworks display. The colorful pyro display proved to be an eventful one, and just when it seemed the show was over, more of them would shoot off and spiral up into the night sky as the crowd gathered outside the Strongfield hall cheered and applauded. Community celebrations marking Canada’s 150th such as the bash in Strongfield have been occurring all summer around the Lake Diefenbaker region, including the one taking place this Saturday in Macrorie, as well as in Conquest on August 5.
