When the weather gets to be as nice as it has been in recent weeks, everybody wants to get out and take advantage of it, getting out in the sun and visiting with each other while enjoying the freshness of the outdoors. Apparently, that also applies to our local wildlife in Outlook and the surrounding area, which isn't afraid of waltzing into town and visiting with residents in their own way. Reader Minna Keskitalo sent us these photos last week of a home visit she got from a baby deer and its mother a couple of weeks ago.
Minna writes:
"Hi, I want to share some photos from some cute moments that happened last Friday.
On June 2 after supper, I was sitting with my husband on the backyard deck. We saw a deer in the back alley behind our fence. Usually there is not only one, so I walked through our house to watch if there were more in the front yard, and what did I see? What appeared on our doorstep? A cute little newborn Bambi!
The Bambi sat for quite a long time there. It gave me time to take some photos. It looked like it was breathing hard or shaking. Also, some young boys had seen it from the street and saw the Bambi had moved to the other side of our house trying to hide. I found it between a wall and an air conditioning machine.
A few moments later, we saw the Bambi had found its mother. Mom was feeding her baby in the neighbors' yard.
This was something big and new for me, as someone who has lived here only a few years and lived earlier in bigger cities."
