For art lovers looking for a scenic country drive on their way to an impressive new exhibit, one may want to take a cruise down to the village of Loreburn this summer.
The Lonesome Whistle Exhibition, put on by Calgary-based artists Carole Bondaroff and Stan Phelps, was opened up to the public on Canada Day, July 1 at the Loreburn Cultural Centre, of which Phelps is a co-director.
The exhibit presents eye-grabbing works of paintings, drawings, photography, poetry, sculptures and calligraphy, and even features a very unique railway-based installation in the venue’s basement.
The gallery of work was only open from July 1-5 before closing the doors for the rest of the month, but there are two other opportunities for the public to view it this summer. The exhibition will reopen from August 1-3, and then again from September 3-7, each with operating hours of 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
