LCBI Brings 'Aladdin' to Life (PHOTOS)

Students wow audiences over three performances

Young and talented performers at LCBI High School brought the Disney production of ‘Aladdin Jr.’ to Outlook audiences over three nightly performances on June 7, 8 and 9, held inside the student chapel.

Mostly a musical and with sprinkles of physical comedy, the show proved to be all-around entertaining and audiences got a real kick out of the production put on by the student performers, who seemed to revel in their respective characters and made the roles their own.

Particularly impressive were the leads, with Aidan Codling as Aladdin himself bringing a healthy dose of the charm that came from the original movie, and Meredith Bruce as Princess Jasmine bringing a down-to-Earth relatable vibe to the character.  As well, Khaya Reddekopp as the Sultan brought humor to his role as Jasmine’s father, and Daniel Yanez as the outrageous, cane-swinging evil Jafar was a certified hit with the crowd, who anticipated him getting his eventual comeuppance.

Perhaps the character who was the audience fan favorite – definitely with the kids – was Alexander Haugen as the Genie, complete with blue face makeup and padding to resemble the character’s ‘beefy’ physique.  Haugen was great with the character’s comedic timing and provided many laughs throughout the show.

The entire production worked as a team effort to bring the show to life, which included amazing costumes and set pieces.

Directed by Mrs. Ridgewell and Mr. Codling, the cast of ‘Aladdin Jr.’ included Aidan Codling, Meredith Bruce, Alexander Haugen, Daniel Yanez, Khaya Reddekopp, Ellie Reddekopp, Lucky Keleta, Alexa Ridgewell, Kate Annala, Hannah Rude, Sydney Chadwick, Josie Wright, Wyatt Johnson, Abe Fimbo, Trason Ridgewell, Andy Delainey, Ella Hopkins, Thomas Bratvold, Sherrissa Clark, Katherine Meagher, Nyah Hopkins, Leif Haugen, Brennan Hefner, Christa Woudwijk, Nifemi Adebowale and Birgitte Friggstad.
