The residents of the Bentley retirement residence enjoyed a special guest speaker today, in a series of informational events designed to improve quality of life.

Debbie Jones, owner and proprietor of The Plum Tree gift shop, delivered a talk about ways to declutter your living space Friday.

At the end of the presentation, special gift cards were presented to the residents attending.

Some handy, practical tips included sorting your stuff and ways to organize.

鈥淚f it鈥檚 over a year old,鈥 said Debbie, 鈥淕et rid of it.鈥

Jones cautioned that one doesn鈥檛 need to get too carried away.

鈥淚f it is something that you want to share with your children or grand children, then you don鈥檛 have to get rid of that.鈥

Other tips included organizing items in clear tubs, so you know exactly what you need without having to pull it out and make a mess, consolidating items that are half used -- 鈥淲hy do we always keep our half used bottle of shampoo? How did it it get in the vanity?鈥 opined Jones --- and donating items you no longer use to organizations that can give it to those who need it..

The light presentation seemed to go over well with the residents, with warm applause.

The Plum Tree is located at 34 Betts Ave. For more information, drop by, or call (306) 786-5006. http://www.theplumtree.ca/
