Change of Venue for Outlook Santa Claus Day

For those wishing to get out and enjoy the festivities around Outlook for the community’s yearly Santa Claus Day celebration, please note that there has been a change of venue for the event.

For those wishing to get out and enjoy the festivities around Outlook for the community’s yearly Santa Claus Day celebration, please note that there has been a change of venue for the event.

Previously, the Outlook & District Chamber of Commerce, who hosts the event each year, had decided to hold Santa Claus Day down in the Outlook Regional Park.  However, concerns about accessibility down in the park led them to switch venues, a decision revealed on December 5.

Santa Claus Day will now be held at the Outlook & District Heritage Museum this coming Saturday, December 14.

From the Chamber of Commerce on their social media page:

“We have decided to move our Santa Claus Day activities up to the Museum from the Regional Park.  A lot of concerns about the accessibility of the Park were shared with Board members so we felt it was prudent to change the venue in order to alleviate those concerns.  The schedule will remain the same but now Santa will be in the Museum for kids to visit instead!  We hope to see you there!â€

The schedule will remain largely the same as was previously advertised, with Santa on hand at the museum from 12:00-4:00 pm to take photos with kids and families, with plenty of cookies and hot chocolate on hand.  As well, the town-wide scavenger hunt will start from the museum and go from 1:00-3:00, and the tree-lighting ceremony will conclude Santa Claus Day back at the museum at 5:00 pm.

Elsewhere around town on the same day, the Reel Theatre is hosting two free screenings of the animated film, ‘The Star’, with an event sponsored by a handful of local businesses.  Afternoon showings are at 1:00 and 3:30.  Advance tickets are required for entry, and they can be picked up at Outlook Printers before this Friday, December 13 at noon.  Your free ticket includes admission, as well as a free small popcorn and pop.

On top of that, and if you’re in the mood to get crafty, the Outlook Art Gallery is hosting a ‘Make and Take’ Christmas card event from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, which is suitable for all ages.

And although the Santa Claus Day events have been moved out of the park, it's been revealed that the gates will still be open on Saturday if anyone wishes to drive down and take a look at the incredible ice sculpture that spells 'Outlook', located on a small hill just behind the bulletin board.

Be sure to get out and make some holiday memories in your community this weekend with friends and family as Outlook will undoubtedly help spread the spirit of the Christmas season!
