The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 56 calls from Oct. 13 to Oct. 20, some of which included: three 911 Act calls, one fraud, two break-and-enters, four thefts, 17 traffic offences, one traffic collision, three harassing phone calls, two mischiefs, one disturbing the peace, two well-being checks, six false alarms, one Mental Health Act call, one Firearms Act call, one trespassing, two failing to comply with probation, one animal call, and eight other provincial calls.
Car keys dispute
On Oct. 13, two females attended the Canora RCMP Detachment to discuss a dispute over a set of car keys. The complainant did not want to turn over the keys to the owner of the vehicle due to concerns they had with the owner’s ability to drive. Police mediated the issue and the car keys were returned.
Close your doors
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 13 to a report of a door left open on a residence in Canora. Police attended and determined the door was blown open by the wind.
Breach of conditions
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP attended a residence in Canora to do a curfew check on a male with court-ordered conditions on Oct. 14. The male was found not to be home and had breached numerous conditions of his probation order. The Canora RCMP obtained a warrant of arrest for the male and are working with neighbouring RCMP detachments to locate him.
Hunters trespassing
On Oct. 14, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of hunters trespassing on land in the RM of Preeceville. Police later located the suspect vehicles parked in Preeceville. Police continue to investigate.
Moose collision
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 14 to a report of a moose versus vehicle collision on Highway No. 9 north of Canora. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Not really stolen
The Canora/Sturgis received a report of a stolen vehicle on Oct. 16. The complainant called back advising he forgot he parked his vehicle at a friend’s house and further police assistance was not required.
Theft
On Oct. 17, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of theft in the RM of Clayton. A shed was broken into and numerous items were stolen including tools and 2x16 treated lumber. Strange noises
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 18 to a report of noises being heard outside a residence and possible person(s) being in the basement. Police attended and searched the residence. No one was found in the basement or outside the home.
Missing hunter found
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a missing hunter north of Hazel Dell on Oct. 19. The hunter was located at home the following day.
Reckless driver
On Oct. 19, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report that someone had driven a vehicle onto the Preeceville Schools grounds, causing damage to the football field. Police continue to investigate.
Diesel theft
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report on Oct. 19 that diesel was stolen from fuel tanks from a farmyard in the RM of Preeceville. The investigation continues.
