With first wrapped up, Supers drop final game of regular season

Canora Supers to meet Langenburg in first round of playoffs.

CANORA - The Canora Supers hosted the Yorkton Marlins at Al Sapieha Field on July 5, and it was a night to forget as the Marlins erupted for 20 hits in a 19-7 Supers loss.

First place in the regular season had already been clinched by the Supers, so the game had no bearing on the final regular season standings for the Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Senior Baseball League.

Greg Andreychuk, Supers player/coach, decided to give a pair of pitchers some much needed work in Shae Peterson and Darcy Blommaert. “It was essentially their spring training as neither had pitched much this season,” said Andreychuk. “Peterson started and went three innings, allowing nine runs on eleven hits to take the loss. Blommaert tossed the final four innings and allowed ten runs on nine hits.”

The bats were solid on the evening for the Supers with 12 hits and six runs.

“Brendon Landstad led the way with three singles,” said Landstad. “Ian Quewezance had a single, double and two runs scored. Kody Rock had a double and two runs scored. Kholton Shewchuk, Derek Palagian, Evan Rostotski, Logan Wolkowski, Darcy Blommaert and Matt Wilgosh added one single apiece.”

The playoffs were to get underway the week of July 10, with the Supers facing Langenburg in a best-of-three series. If a third and deciding game is necessary, it will take place on Friday, July 14 in Canora.
