CANORA - The 2024 portion of the Stars for Saskatchewan concert series presented by the Canora Arts Council will kick off in style in Canora on Jan. 10, as Jake Vaadeland & the Sturgeon River Boys will take over the stage at Canora Composite School.

Jake Vaadeland is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Saskatchewan, with a traditional sound and unique style that blends bluegrass and 50s rockabilly, according to an arts council release. He specializes in guitar and banjo, and focuses on storytelling and relatable messages in his music and performances with The Sturgeon River Boys.

Vaadeland received multiple awards including Roots/Folk Artist of the Year and Album of the Year at the Saskatchewan Music Awards in 2022, and Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Alternative Country Album of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards in 2022. His album Retro Man finished at #2 in fan voting for Album of the Year at the Saskatchewan Music Awards in 2021, concluded the release.
