CANORA - On Sunday, Dec. 1, River Ridge Fish & Game held their annual antler measuring at the Canora Activity Centre. The event was attended by approximately 50 members. President Ernie Gazdewich reported that wildlife numbers were down this past year.
Twenty sets of antlers were submitted for measuring including: elk, moose, white-tailed deer, mule deer, as well as one bear skull.
The measuring was done by Floyd Hendrickson and his wife Diane of Margo. Floyd is an official Henry Kelsey measurer. He was assisted by Kate Lockert, measurer in training and River Ridge member. Doug Lapitsky registered the antlers.
During the afternoon, hot dogs and smokies were available, served up by Cynthia Gazdewich and Dep Lapitsky.
River Ridge has launched a raffle for a TIKKA T3X rifle chambered in 223 Rem (Remington) with a Vortex Viper Scope. Tickets are available from club members.
The draw will be made on June 8 at the River Ridge Gun Show in Canora.
