The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 38 calls from December 2 to December 9, some of which included: one traffic accident, 10 provincial traffic offences, 10 other provincial statutes, five 911 Act incidents, three thefts, two assaults, five mischiefs, one disturbing the peace, and one other incident.

How is this an emergency?

On December 2, a resident of Canora called 911 to report his dislike for his neighbour’s Christmas lights. The Canora/Sturgis RCMP want to remind the public that 911 is for reporting emergencies and not a means to express your opinion.

Oops

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded on December 2 to a report of two males trying to break into a house in Canora. Police attended and determined the two males were renting another house and had the wrong address.  

Mama’s boy

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a male yelling on a street corner in Sturgis on December 2. Police attended and located the male at his home. The male complained to police he was screaming because his mother took his money and did not give him a ride out of town.

Not ready to leave

On December 3, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a disturbance inside a home in Preeceville. The male was reported to have been throwing chairs and refusing to leave the residence when requested to do so by the complainant. Police attended and arrested the male to prevent further continuation of the offence.

On the loose

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on December 6 that two head of cattle went missing from a pasture in the RM of Preeceville. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Canora RCMP or you can also report anonymously via Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

Health problem

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of a male in medical distress at a residence in Preeceville on December 6. Police attended and determined the male received medical treatment and further police involvement was not required.

Bank fraud

On December 8, Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint from a resident in the RM of Good Lake that their bank account was compromised and a large sum of money was e-transferred to an unknown third party. Police continue to investigate.
