CANORA - The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 50 calls from Aug.17 to 24, some of which included: Four 911 Act calls, one abandoned vehicle, two Coroners Act calls, two criminal harassments, one disturbing the peace, one failing to comply with conditions, two false alarms, one harassing communications, one impaired operation of a motor vehicle, two Mental Health Act calls, one mischief, one other provincial call, two suspicious persons, one theft of a bicycle, two traffic collisions, 24 traffic offenses, one wellbeing check, and two prisoners.
Dangerous place to sleep
On Aug. 21, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a male sleeping on Highway 5 by Mikado. Police attended and arrested the male for breaching his 24-hour curfew and for an outstanding robbery warrant from Regina. The male was remanded into custody.
Stolen truck recovered
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP recovered a stolen Ford F250 truck on Aug. 21 in Preeceville. The truck had been reported stolen from Canora on Aug. 15. Police continue to investigate.
Impairment leads to crash
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 9 near Ebenezer on Aug. 22. The driver of a Kia Sedona rear ended a GMC Sierra which was travelling southbound. Police attended the scene and arrested and charged the driver of the Kia Sedona for impaired driving.
Intoxicated assault
On Aug. 23, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to an assault complaint in Canora. Police attended and arrested an intoxicated male for assault. The male was later released and placed on conditions to have no contact with the victim.
Attempted break-in
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report of an attempted break-and-enter to a garage on Barschel Avenue in Canora on Aug 23. Police continue to investigate.
