Local church keeps residents well fed for Winter Lights Festival

St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Parish helped to kick off the Canora Winter Lights Festival with a hearty Perogy & Sausage Lunch in the Parish Hall.

CANORA - St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Parish helped to kick off the Canora Winter Lights Festival with a hearty Perogy & Sausage Lunch in the Parish Hall on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The weather put a bit of a 'chill' on the event, starting off the day with -28°C temperatures, but the deep freeze didn't keep 54 people and an array of volunteers from enjoying the lunch, which is just one fundraiser St. Joseph's is undertaking to help maintain the Parish Rectory. The Fundraising Committee is also close to winding up a 50/50 Cash Raffle with the draw being made just a few days before Christmas. Tickets for that are still available by contacting Ken Rolheiser or dropping into Community Insurance Inc.

We at St. Joseph’s are so full of gratitude to the residents and businesses in our community and to the people who drive in from the surrounding lake resorts and rural areas for the continued support they show us in our efforts to keep our small-town churches and faith groups alive and well. We wish you all a very blessed Christmas.
