Live music adds to the fun at Streetfest & Party in the Park

The Jackie Guy band took to the new stage at King George Park with an appealing mix of old and new music.

CANORA - Visitors to Canora for Streetfest & Party in the Park enjoyed live music throughout most of the day on Aug. 17 in King George Park.

The party got started with Randy and Patty, better known as The Zayshleys, well known to Canora music fans for their musical talents and their fun banter with fans at the same time.

Randy promised, “We’re going to play a bit of everything for you today. It’s a beautiful day in Canora and a beautiful event here in the park. Let’s have some fun.”

In addition to polkas, they played classic numbers such as: Heartaches by the Number, This Land Is Your Land, Folsom Prison Blues and Bad Moon Rising.

The Jackie Guy band followed, with an appealing mix of old and new music. Jackie challenged everyone, “We like to see dancing so if the music is moving you, feel free to get up and dance. We even have some prizes for the best dancers.”

Their set list included original songs My Red Guitars and Runaway Train; along with classic covers of Queen of Hearts, Drivin’ My Life Away, Good Hearted Woman and Rose Garden.
