CANORA - A new chapter is about to begin for the graduating class of 2023. On June 29, a number of events were held to celebrate their contributions throughout their time spent at Canora Composite School.
At 1 p.m. there was a graduation parade down Main Street, which has become a tradition since 2020. At 2 p.m. the ceremony began at King George Park. Graduates were introduced individually, along with a summary of plans each student has for the future. A number of awards were also presented. One was an exclusive award called the Chase Kraynick Memorial Scholarship, which was named in honor of the classmate who died in 2011 and was supposed to be graduating with everyone in 2023. After the ceremony, the graduates danced with family and friends before heading for supper and a grad party later that night.
Global Story of the Week
A popular YouTube star by the name of Ryan Trahan is gaining attention once again after setting off on his quest dubbed, “The Penny Challenge.” The penny challenge took place in 2022 where Trahan attempted to cross America, starting with one penny, in just 30 days in live time while donating money to the “Feeding America” charity. Now in 2023, Ryan Trahan has begun a similar style of campaign, however this time he is starting in France and only has seven days to try and get back to America starting off with only one Euro. This time Ryan is raising money for “Water.org” to help people get better and safer drinking water. This charity event has earned praise from social media users as a creative way to help people while completing a specific task. The series comes to an end on July 7.
