The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 40 calls from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3, some of which included: one breach of peace, one 911 Act call, four thefts, 15 traffic offences, five traffic collisions, two mischiefs, one disturbing the peace, two failing to comply with undertaking, two Mental Health Act calls, two wellbeing checks, and five other provincial calls.
Not really an emergency
On Oct. 28, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a 911 call in Canora. It was reported that a bottle of whiskey was hidden from the caller by another occupant in the residence and police assistance was requested. Police attended and mediated the argument over the bottle of whiskey by separating both occupants for the night.
Eviction dispute
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 29 to a rental property dispute. The caller reported being kicked out of her rental by the landlord without proper notice. Police attended and spoke to both parties about the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants under the Residential Tenancies Act.
Intoxicated thief
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report that an intoxicated female stole an inflatable Halloween pumpkin decoration from outside a residence in Canora on Oct. 30. The same female also stole a solar light from another residence and was caught rummaging through an unlocked vehicle. Police were able to identify the suspect and recover the stolen inflatable Halloween pumpkin. Police continue to investigate.
Lock your doors
On Oct. 31, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report that at 3 a.m., a newer model white car drove up to a truck parked on the 200 block of Fourth Avenue East in Canora. A single occupant exited the car, walked over to the truck and checked the door handles and opened the tailgate. No items were stolen as the doors were locked. The Canora RCMP would like to remind the public to always lock and secure their vehicles, homes, garages, and sheds. Expressing frustration?
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 31 to a report of a female breaking items inside a residence in Preeceville. Police attended and spoke to both occupants of the home and the incident was resolved.
Curfew check
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP did a curfew check on a male in Preeceville on Oct. 31. The male was found not to be at home and in breach of his court-ordered release conditions. Police continue to investigate.
Break-and-enter
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a break-and-enter in Sturgis on Nov. 1. Police were told four males in a black car pulled up outside a residence and one of the males proceeded to enter the residence through an unlocked door. Police continue to investigate, and are looking for assistance from the public.
