Canora RCMP: Following too close causes two-vehicle collision

Police investigated and learned a Ford Edge was traveling southbound and slowed down to turn when a Nissan Sentra drove into the back of the vehicle. The driver of the Sentra was charged.

CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 27 calls from Nov. 28 to Dec. 5, some of which included:

  • four 911 Act calls, one fraud,
  • one harassing communications,
  • one Mental Health Act call,
  • one offender management,
  • 12 traffic offenses,
  • five vehicle collisions and
  • one wellbeing check.

Back off

On Dec. 1, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 9 by Gorlitz. Police investigated and learned a Ford Edge was traveling southbound and slowed down to turn when a Nissan Sentra drove into the back of the vehicle. The driver of the Sentra was charged under the Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Act for following too close for road conditions. 

Vulgar phone call

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a harassing communications incident on Dec. 3. A woman in Canora reported answering her phone at 2:30 a.m. from a private caller. A young male on the phone made vulgar comments to the woman and hung up. Police were provided the name of a possible suspect.

Tenant battles eviction

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Dec. 4 to a disturbance at a residence in Canora. The caller reported he was a landlord who just served an eviction notice on his tenant. The tenant chased the landlord out of the home. Police spoke with the caller about the incident.
