After a successful trip to Europe earlier this year, planning has begun for the next outing for the Canora Eurotrip.

CANORA - Just six months after the Eurotrip 2024 club arrived back in Saskatchewan from the last Europe Trip, the Canora Eurotrip club reconvened to prepare for a new trip with a new group wanting to travel.

Students from Canora Composite School Grades 9 through 11 started devising where they wanted to travel back at the start of November. On Dec. 5, the first parent meeting for the trip was held in the Junior Science Lab at the high school. At that time, Karen Wilgosh, who is the lead organizer, revealed that a majority of students wanting to take part voted to go to Italy and Greece.

The trip is set to take place in April of 2026 and is run by a team called Education First or EF for short. While in mainland Italy, the trip will take travelers to high profile attractions such the Roman Colosseum in Rome, the smallest country in the world in Vatican City, and the site of the volcanic eruption in Pompeii. Travelers will then take an overnight ferry to Athens, Greece where everyone will get to see the famous attractions of the Greek capital. The trip isn’t only meant for the students, but the group is happy to welcome adults from around the community including past students who may have gone on previous trips.

The group also briefly talked about fundraising options including the possibility of doing a Co-op gift card sale, which turned out to be a huge success last year. It’s unclear whether the group will be able to host bake sales this time around due to the new canteen and kitchen, with there usually being sales every week now.

A date for the next parent meeting has not been set yet, but will probably be sometime early in 2025.
