CALGARY — Police in Calgary have charged three people in relation to two separate animal cruelty incidents after being alerted by local veterinary clinics.
Investigators received a call on Jan. 7 after an unconscious 11-week-old puppy was brought in after consuming illegal drugs.
A month later, investigators executed a search warrant on a residence seizing a firearm, ammunition, illegal drugs, stolen property as well as another dog and nine additional puppies.
A man and woman were charged with causing damage to animals, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
The next day officers received a call from a different veterinary hospital about a severely injured dog and another that had reportedly been killed and a search warrant at another home recovered a firearm and two additional dogs.
Charges against a male suspect include killing or injuring animals, cruelty to animals and criminal harassment.
