EDMONTON — The Edmonton Elks signed American kick-returner Javon Leake on Tuesday.

The move became official shortly after Leake hit the CFL's open market. Edmonton signed Leake to an agreement in principle last week.

Leake was the CFL's top special-teams player and a league all-star last season. He led the league in punt returns (81 for 1,216 yards) and touchdowns (four) in 17 regular-season games with the Toronto Argonauts.

Leake began his CFL career with Toronto in 2022, helping the Argos win the Grey Cup that year.

Edmonton's special teams will certainly have a Toronto flavour this season. Earlier this off-season the Elks signed veteran kicker Boris Bede after he was released by the Argos.,
