EDMONTON — Police in Edmonton say an autopsy shows an eight-year-old girl died from blunt impact trauma.
Officers say the girl's body was found Saturday on Samson Cree Nation in Maskwacis, about 100 kilometres south of Edmonton.
Police say three people have been charged in the girl's death, and a publication ban prevents identifying the child.
Court documents say the girl was killed in or near Edmonton on or about April 22 and that her remains were carried in a hockey bag to an unknown location.
A 27-year-old woman, who cannot be named due to the ban, is charged with first-degree murder and causing an indignity to a body.
A 25-year-old man, who also can't be named, is charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder and causing an indignity to a body.
A third accused, 66-year-old Edward Nievera, is charged with being an accessory to first-degree murder and causing an indignity to a dead body.
